Anyone with a computer or mobile phone can share news and perspective on news, create content, tell stories that might be very important and really impactful, but most of them get buried under the content developed and propelled by the mass media machinery, or even worse, never gets to pass through the filter of a news editor so it never gets published. We found that through the power of crowdcuration the figure of the editor, choosing what to publish and what not to, is democratized and given back to the people who will decide what they truly find important and what not. Since every story submitted gets published, we look to provide a strong platform so that journalism students and freelancers, who are in their early writing careers, can boost their exposure, while at the same time, keeping true to the real values of journalism: truth, freedom of speech, right of being informed and democracy.
